A projector can be used as a fake window by displaying a long-form ambience video on a wall or projection screen. Instead of treating the projector as a cinema device only, the image becomes part of the room.
Choose the right wall or screen
A clean, light-colored wall usually works best. The larger the projected image, the more it feels like a view rather than a small display. If the wall has texture, test the video first to make sure rain, snow or window details still remain readable.
Match the video to the room
Rainy city scenes can suit evening interiors, while nature views can feel more open and quiet. Snow scenes, ocean ruins or cozy interiors can be used when the room benefits from a stronger seasonal or thematic mood.
Keep the setup comfortable
- Dim the room slightly so the projection has contrast.
- Keep audio low if the video is playing in the background.
- Use a playlist for longer sessions.
- Place the projection where it feels like a natural window or visual focus.
